POSITION:               VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

REPORTS TO:         EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

HOURS:  An average of 24 hours per week, including nights and weekends on occasion.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

At the direction of the Executive Director, the Volunteer Coordinator conducts recruitment, training, and support of Pike County Volunteer Advocates and maintains case related information for Pike County and assist with Clark County as needed.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  (including, but not limited to the following)

 

Administrative:

  • Advise the Executive Director of all program needs or problems within Pike County.
  • Oversee CASA case assignments within Pike County.
  • Attend orientation session for prospective volunteers, training session for new volunteers and fund-raising meetings as required.
  • Support and supervise volunteer advocates within Pike County
  • Additional projects and responsibilities as directed by the Executive Director.

 

Program:

  • Review State and National CASA training manual.
  • Attend and work with National and State CASA programs through conferences and meetings.
  • Conduct thorough interviews and background checks on all volunteers.
  • Enlist speakers experienced in juvenile court system and procedures.
  • Train volunteers using the National CASA Association Volunteer Training Manual.
  • Submit annual evaluation form for volunteers to assess training, administrative case management, operations and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Complete annual evaluation form to assess quality of services provided by volunteers and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Submit annual evaluation form for juvenile judge, Attorney Ad Litem, and prosecutor to assess quality of services provided and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Provide quarterly reports re:  number of volunteers, number of children served including gender, age, ethnicity, and type of abuse/neglect to enable tracking of cases and project growth trends.

 

 

Community Relations:

  • Coordinate public relations with the purpose of recruiting volunteers and increasing public awareness of the CASA program and its goals and activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all appropriate groups, agencies, and organizations, and any and all other child advocacy agencies and community service organizations.
  • Provide PSAs for local radio and cable TV and press releases to local newspapers.
  • Distribute educational brochures for public information.
  • Provide information to Clark County and Pike County community groups through public speaking engagements.

 

Fund Development:

  • Assist Executive Director with all fundraising projects/events.

 

PERIODIC REVIEWS:

  • The Executive Director will evaluate the Volunteer Coordinator annually.
  • The Volunteer Coordinator will evaluate each of the volunteers annually.
  • The volunteers will evaluate the training provided by, the administration of the program by, and the performance of the Volunteer Coordinator annually.
